Summer 2012 Vacation Ending

Let’s wrap this darn thing up. It’s been two months since our vacation, and far too many blog posts. At least I’m finishing what I started. Something should be said for perseverance. Or is it stubbornness? Either way, here goes.     On our way off of the peninsula (after checking out Oysterville) we checked out…

Oysterville (Or Penultimate Summer 2012 Vacation Blog Post)

One of the last things we decided to do before heading home was check out Oysterville. It is one of the oldest towns in the region, being settled in the mid-1800s. Granted, it’s not Boston, but for the NorthWest, it’s significant. And as one might expect, there’s oyster farming.

First, however, there was a detour. While Xavier was sleeping in the Millennium Falcon, Laura…

Fort Columbia

This is part four of an ongoing series looking at our family vacation. You can tell it was a big deal because I’m milking it for all it’s worth.  We weren’t even gone from the house for three full days!   Originally, after our picnic lunch, the plan was for me to take August, Déla…

Summer 2012 Trip Part 3

This is the third (of I’m not sure how many yet) part of a series chronicling the adventures  associated with our summer 2012 vacation. Parts one and two are easy enough to find.   We arrived at our destination about 5 in the afternoon or so. The rental house was easy enough to find. With…

Vacation Bridge Art?

The following is part 2 of a series chronicling our epic 3 day vacation in the summer of 2012.   At Longview we crossed the Lewis And Clark Bridge over the Columbia River into Oregon, then turned westward. You could smell the raw lumber being prepared for shipment. Rolling down the window you were hit…

2012 Summer Trip Part 1

Earlier this month we took a small trip to the Washington coast. It was a much needed break for the family. Our previous vacation was two years previous, and even that one was short. Then the year before was also short, and before that it had been years. part of the reason is economical, but…
