A New Tooth

With all of the younger kids in school my mornings have finally opened up. More laundry getting done. More blogging getting done. And now time to visit the dentist.

Several years ago one of my molars got infected and needed to get pulled. It was a horrible experience, and one that I’m surprised I can’t find any record of on my blog. Regardless, I’ve had a hole in my jaw for a while.

Then last year we finally got dental insurance. It took a long time for it to become financially feasible with the cost/benefit ratio. Paying $170 a month and only getting cleanings twice a year for two people makes no financial sense, but when you’ve got as many mouths as we do, well, the math is much better.

Unfortunately the dental insurance came with waiting periods. So I waited to get my implant. And waited. Finally the waiting period was over and the coverage percentage was acceptable and the process was begun.

But wait, that’s not the end of the story.

Laura was going to get a contract to teach through Seattle Public Schools. This meant she would be getting her own medical coverage, with dental benefits. But we had to wait for the contract to go through and coverage to begin.

Thankfully once the coverage did start it was much better dental coverage with no wait times necessary for eligibility. I only needed to wait until a hole in my schedule opened up.

And that hole was today.

With Xavier in preschool in the mornings I have time to myself. This means taking care of things I haven’t normally had the time for. Today, that meant finally getting a tooth where previously there was a gap.

Yay teeth!
