What do you mean I haven’t ripped my Aretha Franklin yet?
If you’ve been reading my blog since the beginning in 2009, which, according to the numbers you haven’t, you would know that ripping my CDs to MP3 format is a multi-year process. We’re coming up on 5 years now.
And today I learned I have yet to digitize my Aretha Franklin. And Fishbone. That seems odd. I would have sworn I listened to Fishbone a few times. I might have deleted that folder accidentally while selectively moving certain things from one drive to another.
But to not have my Aretha Franklin, the greatest female singer, well, that’s inexcusable.
So yes, I’m still converting my CD collection to MP3. I simply have thousands of CDs, and so many of them are scattered. I really want to rip a whole collection rather than one or two CD by a band at a time. Part of this process is also going around and organizing my collection. Having a lot of kids, well, unless I put the CDs in a completely inaccessible location, the kids are going to get into them. And there’s no logistical way to do that with the number of CDs I have. Let’s face it, toddlers are miniature hurricanes.
Where am I going with this? Well, nowhere, really. I’ve been thinking a lot about music lately. With Beatles Week coming up and my trip to Boston to see The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, that’s a lot. Then there’s the concert on Saturday with X and The Blasters that I’ll be going to.
There is a lot going on musically in my life. I like that.
