You Know My Name (Look Up My Number) (Beatles Week 2013 Day 8)

“You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)”

For me, this is one of those songs that typifies what a B-side is. It’s definitely not something you would necessarily find on an album (well, the White Album, yeah). This was the flip side to the “Let It Be” single, the penultimate 45 the band would release. The song was written and partially recorded in 1967 over a month’s time according to BeatleSongs and then again in 1969. Brian Jones of The Rolling Stones was recorded in 1967 before his death playing saxaphone. Tell Me Why uses words such as “cacophonous” and “precocious” to describe the track.

And now it is 2014. So completes my first year solely running this blog instead of a dedicated video game and home video news and review website. And I couldn’t be happier about it.

Sure there are things I miss about not being in the daily grind of news and reviews, but those are far outweighed by the relief I enjoy by being able to write about what I want, and mostly when I want.

Yes, I still do reviews, but most of those are only the ones I want to do, and I don’t have to jump through many of the same hoops I used to.

No, I have shifted my online presence and identity to further align with who I am as a person. This felt right at the time, and while shuttering that other website was a difficult decision at the time, it was the right thing to do. I may resurrect it at some point in the future, but I have no immediate plans for that.

I have begun participating in a podcast that I enjoy with a longtime friend and colleague and his brother in law. Were I still operating that other website I would not have had the time to do this.

What is in store for me this year? I don’t know. I am, however, looking forward to it.
