“Matchbox” was originally written and performed by Carl Perkins, somebody The Beatles, and particularly George, admired. Over the course of their career The Beatles would perform a number of covers by other artists, but Carl Perkins ties for the artist they recorded and released the most – three songs. Here Tell Me Why says it sounds “as if Perkins had written it especially for a Ringo revival” who takes the lead on this track. BeatleSongs informs us that original drummer Pete Best used to take the lead on this until August of 1962 when John took over lead vocals when Best was replaced. The song would soon drop from the band’s live set but would get revived again two years later for the Long Tall Sally E.P.
I have too many Munchkin cards. Alright, so maybe not too many, but I do have a lot.
Aside from the Munchkin Legends, Munchkin Booty and Munchkin Adventure Time set we have the regular Munchkin game, all the expansions as well as a number of the booster packs. So many cards that a while ago I ordered the Munchkin Box Of Holding. A great product. Only it doesn’t hold all of our cards.
So I tried to make a box.
Tried.
First I found a box that already had a similar shape but would need a significant amount of trimming down to work. It didn’t take too long to find a suitable candidate.
After unfolding my Box Of Holding I liked it up and traced around what I needed to. Then I took a box cutter and trimmed off the excess.

To make sure the creases and folds were straight and sure I used a heavy hardcover book to hold the box in place as I folded the various flaps up. That was the easy part. Unfortunately I did not take into account the width of the material I was using and compensate during the tracing. I should have moved the original template box about a quarter of an inch to the right when tracing the one side to make the box a little bit wider.
As it is the box doesn’t quite fit the cards.
I don’t want to order a second set of Box Of Holdings as the box for treasures is enough. It is the door cards I have overflowing. I may try this project again in the near future, maybe with thinner cardboard, maybe by trying to adjust the “measurements” or something.
