If you ever spend some time on Vancouver Island, you really should go check out some of the natural wonders the island has to offer. There is a lot of majestic beauty just a short drive away from Victoria. Case in point is Port Renfrew.
This is apparently a popular spot as we almost didn’t get a spot in the parking lot. That being said, about a minute onto the trail and we didn’t see anybody.
It didn’t take us long to find a bit of wildlife.
There is a much longer trail the Botanical Loop Trail intersects with, but having Grace and Tevye it just wasn’t feasible. We did, however, get down into the spur of the trail to Botany Bay where the trail hits the ocean.
If you look closely you can see Washington State on the left side of the picture.
Grace had a good time getting to walk all over the place.
Tevye, however, had the best hike of all of us.
We got to Botanical Beach and, well, beach is a relative term, but the area certainly holds quite a bit to examine.
Ciaran decided to take off his glasses and put them in his pocket so nothing would happen to them. That made me more nervous, actually, that something would happen to them in his pocket.
Old growth meets new growth.
It wasn’t an overly long hike, but some of us were pretty tuckered out on the way home.
