Beatles Week 2018 day 8 – Mailman Bring Me No More Blues

Another song by Buddy Holly, Mailman Bring Me No More Blues was the flip side of the single The Beatles would would record and release – “Words Of Love” (from Beatles For Sale). As I mentioned a few days ago, that the group didn’t record and release more Buddy Holly tunes during their early days, instead they featured several Carl Perkins numbers, is surprising.

This version, recorded during the “Get Back” sessions (which would become the basis for the film and soundtrack Let It Be) is slower than Buddy Holly’s version, which I find interesting. The fade also makes me wonder how the band would perform the song normally, especially as it was part of their live repertoire in the early days.

2018 is over, Happy new year, and on to 2019.

Here is hoping this year is better for you than last year.

May you be prosperous, but not at others’ expense.

May you be successful, while still allowing others to succeed.

May you and yours, and all of us, be healthy.

Let’s all work together to make 2019 a better world.
